Finally got the chance to go out today. With my dear and my darling! :D

I haven't had this much fun in ages. We didn't go anywhere special. But I laughed so much I think I might have strained my voice a little bit. NO complains here though :)



Watched Alice in Wonderland.

Overall I think it was a good movie. There were a few flaws. For instance, the Hatter was EXACTLY like Captain Jack Sparrow. I know that's the style he's famous for now, but there's no reason he should talk and walk exactly the same. He COULD have been a bit crazier. And the tea party scene was disappointing. There were not enough flying teacups. Haha. And when the queen said " Off with his head!" ,isn't it supposed to be all high-pitched and shrill??

But other than that the movie was good. :D

I love random emails

A bus stops and 2 Italian men get on. They sit down and engage in an animated conversation.

The lady sitting next to them ignores them at first, but her attention is galvanized when she hears one of them say the following:

'Emma come first. Den I come. Den two asses come together. I come once-a-more! .. Two asses, they come together again. I come again and pee twice. Then I come one lasta time.'

The lady can't take this any more, 'You foul-mouthed sex obsessed pig,' she retorted indignantly. 'In this country we don't speak aloud in public places about our sex lives.

'Hey, coola down lady,' said the man. 'Who a talkin' abouta sex? I'm a justa tellin' my frienda how to spell ' Mississippi '.

On a random note, never did I think that I would feel so happy inside me when the customer I served walks out with a bright smile on their face, obviously satisfied with the service and food. Kinda enlightening =)

Has it been 3 weeks already?

My first week into work, I was busy complaining to every single person I met how tiring it was. How I was too tired to do anything. It was a new place. I had to memorise the menu, learn how to key in orders, learn what cutlery is needed for each dish served, learn how to serve drinks ( yes, for different sized cups, the presentation is different), all in one day. Talk about a tough first day. I thought to myself 'What on earth have you gotten yourself into?!'

Then second week came, and I started getting used to the hours. By then, I was already familiar with everything. Which meant that I started enjoying going to work. And the people I work with are really nice, so that's an added advantage. :)

It's now the third week, and I'm actually really glad I took this job. I'm not saying it's the best job in the world. But I have learnt a great many things. My memory skills have definitely improved. There are times when Dome is so busy that on my way to key-in the order for table 11, table 8 asks for 2 glasses of warm water and 1 glass of iced water, and then table 9 wants ketchup, and table 12 is waiting to order. And then at the same time, we have to take turns to look out for the people at the smoking area, cos the last thing we need is a customer coming up to us complaining they've been waiting for 10 minutes to order.

Patience is something you must have as a waitress. OK, I'm pretty sure many of you, as customers, have complained when the food comes late. And it's perfectly normal for you to get angry, cos you placed the order half an hour ago and you're hungry.

Now see it from a waitress's point of view. The place is packed. We're serving, taking orders, refilling glasses of water, changing ash-trays, clearing tables, non-stop for say, 2 hours? And the kitchen is busy, doing their very best to cook the food as fast as they can. But they can only go so fast, because food has to be cooked properly, if not there will be more complains, like duh! :P
And the orders just keep piling up.
And now imagine, in the midst of all this chaos, we still have to put a smile on our faces, politely apologize when customers start complaining. It's really not easy, but we still do it anyway, cos we understand why you're getting angry.

Although, there are times when I can't help but get annoyed. I mean, seriously, you can see how packed the place is, so be patient a bit lah! Hehe.

In a way, yes, I am glad I'm working at Dome :)

Work!

THE best part of being a waitress, is without a doubt, getting a huge tip, given to you personally. WOO! Thank you! You made my day :D

I call it : THE..erm...theory of life?

Ok, seriously! Where do bloggers get the inspiration to blog every single day?! Well, some of them do.

It's been a really really really rough month and a half for me. Too much pressure, I'm just glad it's all over. Decisions have been made. Everyone's happy. I can finally breathe.


So over the days, I came up with a little theory that may seem SUPER obvious to many, but I only just figured it out, so be patient with me. Heh. :D

Family, the people who matter the most in your life. These are the people who have stood by you since the very minute you were born, and they aren't going anywhere just yet. There are times when they are going to be hard on you, so hard you'll cry and wonder whatever happened to a little something called MERCY! Ok, maybe not that hard, I'm over-exaggerating, BUT you get my point. And sure, at that point in time, we get upset, we start hating everything. And when it's all over, you realize that it's what you NEEDED. You don't like it, but if them being hard on you is what it takes to get the job done, then so be it.

Friends ( And by friends I mean the close ones who you keep in touch with the rest of your life), the people you CHOOSE to become close to. These are the people who choose to stand by you. These are the people who choose to care about you. They are never hard on you, but they bring your spirits up when things are down. They help you get through the tough times. They make things look better, easier, happier, than it really is. They give you hope. I know one thing for sure, every time I go out with a group of friends, I always come back having the biggest smile on my face. ( thank you! you know who you are =] )


So! My conclusion : Your family gives you what you need, your friends give you what you want. You can't live without either of them.

There were times when I was put in a situation where I had to choose between family and friends. Which was the most unfair position you can ever put someone in. No one should ever have to choose between family of friends. And that's why I love each and every person in my life today. *grins*

i'm psychic

I'm done with work! Last day of work today. Guess what happened??

The story goes like this. It's my last day of work, and I'm racing time to finish all my work, cos I won't be going in next week and if I don't finish it, it's just going to end up in the trays for weeks, probably months. And for goodness knows what reason, I thought to myself : 'I wonder what will happen if the door got stuck'.

Then about 10 minutes later.....the door really got stuck. None of us could go out. We were stuck in the office for a good half an hour to 45 minutes. Am I psychic? HAHA! It was definitely pure coincidence, but I like to think I was psychic for 5 seconds. :D

It was actually pretty funny, cos the maintenance people were trying their best to teach us how to break the knob. It was really confusing. They even had to go to the office next door, take pictures of the door knob, and show us through the window where to find some pin that needed to be pushed.


What a way to end my last day at work.
