The Fellowship with the South African Choir

Thursday, July 19, 2007

A few weeks back, us choir people had a fellowship with the Conwonnite Youth Choir from South Africa. It was the most wonderful experience I had! My goodness were they good. They sang 4 songs for us......and all 4 songs were nothing less than marvellous! I was simply mesmerised by the way their voices blended splendidly. And needless to say, the songs were all upbeat with no piano in the background. That's how I feel a choir should be. Singing with no music in the background. I think the piano just spoils the whole thing.

The S. African choir even taught us 1 of the songs. It is so different from what we learn here. Much better, in my opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed that session. I was hoping we could learn more. I hope there will be more fellowships in the future. And hopefully I'm welcome to join the choir for the fellowship! :)

Happy Birthday To Me! :)

Saturday, June 30, 2007

Yesterday (29th of June) was my Sweet Sixteen! It was the most awesome birthday I have ever had! Wow! In the morning, unfortunately for me, I had to go to school. But just before I left, my mum surprised me by giving me a necklace. This necklace is special because it is meant for me and only me! haha. It has some good vibrations to it. And the pendant has 2 stones-1 for my studies and 1 for good luck.....I think. Then she gave me a bracelet which was from my sister. It was made from rose-water crystals! wow! It's supposed to help me with my friendship. :) So sweet of her!

Then in school, I received 2 more necklaces from Su Yi and Carmen. They were beautiful necklaces! I couldn't thank them enough! Now I don't have to shop for jewelry anymore! :)

After school, me and a few friends of mine went to Sunway Pyramid to enjoy! It was so cool. We had a light lunch in KFC, walked around a bit, then went for a movie. Fantastic 4! It was so awesome! I nearly cried at the ending, but thank god I didn't. Hehe. Halfway through the movie, a phone rang just behind me! How irritating. It's like the advertisement. "I tauke mah!" So stupid. Other than that, the movie was great. After the movie, we walked around a bit more. We even tried on a few dresses in MNG! :) It was so cool! Then we took a few pictures, had Baskin Robbins, and left. Short and sweet. We all agreed that we would do this again after SPM. :D

After that, Dad took my sister and I to Uncle Chilli's in PJ Hilton!!!! OMG!!!!!!!! It was so cool! My dad was meeting someone there so it was just me and my sister at the table. I felt like an adult! We both ordered mocktails, which are cocktails without alcohol. it's just a mixture of different juices. Then we ordered 1 "Hilton's Classic" Burger and shared it among ourselves. It was so big! I couldn't even finish half! We took our time eating (hehe) and then when we were done, called for the check. (So cool!) I payed the bill and then went to meet dad. Shortly after that we left.

That was by far the most amazing birthday I have had......yet! :)

wait a minute! There was no cake! :0
my presents! bag included......hehe.

meeeeeeeeeee!

my mum bought me this top! :D

Today was the Choir Competition at State Level. Believe it or not, the choir of SMK Seafield is one of the top three schools in the whole of Selangor!!!!! OMG!!! We managed to get third place!!!!! IS THAT COOL OR WHAT???!!! haha

We owe it all to our wonderful coach, Ms Susanna Saw. Without her, we wouldn't have been able to have managed to come this far. THANK YOU MS SUSANNA!!!!!!!!! :D

Us getting 3rd place proves that we are progressing. Last year we managed to get 4th place. This year we got 3rd. Next year we might just get 1st!!!! oh.....I won't be in school next year. Aiyo! Oh well, the juniors will get 1st!!!!!!!! hehe

Faith

Saturday, June 23, 2007

Just the other day I was watching Oprah and she was telling the audience of the last she went to Africa and one of the girls there told her she was most inspired by this particular episode where they showed Faith. Readers of my blog let me introduce you to Faith:

Surprised???? Faith is a dog who was born with severely deformed front legs. She could only move by dragging herself on the floor. A wonderful family rescued her and trained her to walk on her two back legs. They trained her by a spoonful of peanut butter above her. I sincerely suggest all of you to go to Oprah.com and watch videos of Faith walking. It will just touch you heart! I know mine did. I cried the first time I saw her on TV. :P It truly changed me! :)

Choir........

Sunday, April 15, 2007

Today the choir of SMK Seafield performed at the Corus Hotel in KL. We were invied because we achived the highest distinction mark in the Silver Level Trinity Exam last year! *applause* It was so nice! We went in, did a sound check, had a short warm-up and practice session and waited for the ceremony to start. There were also kids receiving awards for achieving the highest distinction mark for vioin, piano, and guitar for both practical and theory. They also have this thing called "Rockschool". This guy performed with an electric guitar. Really nice. There was also this small boy who got distinction in Grade 1 violin. He was so cute on stage! :P And then there was this guy who played the saxophone.

All of them played so well! It was kinda putting pressure on us to do well! We were assured after the performance that it was quite good! :) What a relief! Unfortunately we weren't able to stay for refreshments because the bus driver ecame imatient waiting for us. How inconsiderate! Anyways, the point is we had a good time.....and that's all that matters! :D
